The rundown

As student-athletes train harder and compete younger, schools need more athletic trainers to keep them healthy. Athletic trainers help prevent and treat injuries, specifically muscle and bone injuries, not only for young athletes, but also for professional athletes and industrial workers. Athletic trainers guide the injured through recovery and aim to reduce future injury through excercises, therapy programs, and proper use of equipment. But don't make the mistake of confusing athletic trainers with fitness trainers or personal trainers, who help people become physically fit.

Here we go!

Hi everyone!
As we know, this trimestral project consist on following the developement of Olympic Games 2012. Our group has focused our reserches on athletics and that´s exactly what we will have soon expose here.

Personally, I have looking for information about walker races and relay race which are the themes that I´m going to talk about. We will do a brief revision on its history from their begins until nowadays.

I hope you are people interested on sports! Don´t stop following us!

Where the ideas come from...

Funding the Games

The London 2012 project is delivered by two key organisations - one private, one public.
Olympic Stadium field of play

A privately funded Organising Committee

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is the private sector company responsible for preparing and staging the 2012 Games.

It has a £2bn budget, with almost all of it to be raised from the private sector.

This commercial revenue will come from several sources.

A public sector delivery organisation

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) is the public sector body responsible for the delivery of the new venues and infrastructure required for the London 2012 Games. The ODA budget is drawn entirely from the public sector.

The ODA is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Greater London Authority, the London Development Agency and the Olympic Lottery Distributor.

This funding is contributing to the construction of the venues and infrastructure in the Olympic Park.

Paralympic Athletics

Athletics has been part of the Paralympic programme since the first Games in Rome in 1960, and has produced some of the most iconic images in the history of the Paralympic Movement.

For London 2012, all track and field events will be held at the Olympic Stadium in the new Olympic Park. This state-of-the-art venue, which will have a capacity of 80,000 during the Games, will also host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Stuart Braye of Great Britain prepares to start the 400m event at the Barcelona 1992 Paralympic Games.

A total of 3,951 athletes (1383 women) from a total of 146 different countries around the world came to Beijing.

South Africa's Oscar Pistorius (R) and Jerome Singleton of the USA (L) compete in the men's 100m T44 Final at the National Stadium during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Travel arragements I

We are going to inform you about the flights, when we will go, and the prices of the tickets. We are going to search the cheapest hotel in London but also the most comfortable, where we will eat and how we will go.  In fact we are going to stress and inform you about all the travel arrangements. The company of our flight is called Monac. The prices of the return tickets are about 600 pounds all together. I think they are cheap. We’re going to unpack in a hotel near the Olympics and we will stay two weeks.

Athletic Modals

Well, here we go!

As the project is divided in many seccions, each member is going to focus on a couple of them so that at the end of researching we all put the information together and in order.
In my hand, I have been put in the charged of looking for notes related to two of athletic modals : Athletic relay and racewalking. Of course, I will help my mates in their work after I had finished mine. We have to think about new links and how to connect ppt slights or whatever!
There´s too much to do in just three weeks!
Good luck everyone.
love, Carmen
